Herndon, Va. - Reality Mobile, the developer of a mobile communications platform designed to let users instantly access and share video and other data, said on Thursday that it has raised $6.5 million in a new round of funding led by Energy Ventures.
CTTV Investments, the venture capital arm of Chevron Technology Ventures, and the Dobson Partnership also participated.
The company plans to use the proceeds to expand its platform -- which has been in use by the government and defense markets -- into the energy sector, as well as to open a new office in Houston.
Founded in 2003, Reality Mobile is the creator of RealityVision software, which lets users transmit live video from virtually any camera source, including cell phones, as well as stream a portion of their computer screen to anyone on the network.
